A high five is in order here! A lot of them.

For the fifth time, Carilion Medical Center (CRMH, CRCH and associated departments of our Roanoke Campus) has achieved Magnet® recognition from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).

Of the 28 hospitals in Virginia with the Magnet designation, CMC is the only one with five years of recognition. And only 1% of Magnet hospitals across the nation have four or more.

Update 1/25/2024: The utility work at the intersection of South Jefferson Street and McClanahan Street/Yellow Mountain Road near CRMH has been completed, and a new stoplight is in operation.

Construction in that area is ongoing so please continue to be mindful of other vehicles and pedestrians as you travel near CRMH. 

AEP and the City of Roanoke are coordinating repairs to the utility pole and power lines at the intersection of McClanahan Street/Yellow Mountain Road and South Jefferson Streets in Roanoke near CRMH.

Congratulations to everyone whose great work was recognized on our Wow Wall last month! In addition to each of the outstanding individuals pictured above, CRMH was recognized as High Performing in Maternity Care by U.S. News & World Report. 

Through Friday, Feb. 9, employees and patients are invited to share a story of healing through tiles.

Located at Carilion Mental Health in Tanglewood Center, the tile display table and supplies are available weekdays, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Visitors to the table can use colored pencils and stencils to create their stories on four-inch wooden tiles. There is no cost to participate.

On Thursday, Jan. 11, CGCH added two new robotic team members to their staff!

The Moxi robots, designed by Diligent Robotics, will start rolling down the hallways to learn the space and work with front-line teams to get oriented to our needs.

They are the first of their kind in our entire region and are acting as a pilot program for our system.

Over the decades, CTCH has been a health and wellness partner to our patients in far southwest Virginia, offering comprehensive care from medical to therapy services. This past November, our teams there gathered to celebrate the hospital's 50th anniversary.

Our mission is to improve the health of the communities we serve. As a tax-exempt organization, we care for our patients regardless of their ability to pay.

We have a Financial Assistance Policy that outlines which patients are eligible for assistance and the process we follow. Generally, patients are eligible for some form of assistance if their family income is at or below 500 percent of the federal poverty guidelines.

Santa took time out of his busy schedule last week to visit with some of our youngest patients. His stops included the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Pediatric Units where he came in person and virtually, plus a stop at the home of a pediatric hospice patient.

Thank you to Santa and all his helpers for making these visits possible and bringing joy to our patients and their families this holiday season.

We’ve collaborated with The Blood Connection (TBC) for our blood product needs. Our agreement begins on Monday, January 1, 2024.

TBC is a non-profit community blood center with 61 years of experience. TBC serves more than 120 hospitals in Virginia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia.
