Summer Jobs Now Available for High School and College Students

"My position with Carilion through the high school/college summer job program has mostly involved using Epic to reconcile information that administration has on patients with information in the patients’ actual medical records. This has not only helped me grow skills in using electronic medical records, but it is also nice to know that I’m contributing to increasing the level of care provided to patients. This position was attractive to me because I knew that it would help me gain skills that are relevant to the type of career that I want in life. It was also a great opportunity to get my first steps into Carilion, as I hope to have a career here in the future."

The Family and Community Medicine Dept. had the opportunity to work with two great college summer interns, Nate and Ethan. They worked with our FCM research group and alongside our leaders in the administrative office at Riverside. These young men worked on a number of projects, from putting together clinical and clerical orientation packets to collating data and completing practice evaluation forms for our rural health clinics. Both young men had great attention to detail, demonstrated a cheerful and helpful attitude and asked for clarification on assignments to ensure they were completing them as expected. Given the quality of their work, we offered to stay in touch with both interns and make every effort to help them find future work. Thank you Carilion team for this program."
