  Angels of Assisi's post warms our heart as they recognize our officers for their dedication and desire to protect all creatures great and small.  Another great example of the dedicated men and women of Carilion PD and their extraordinary commitment to protect those who are unable to protect themselves.  Special recognition to Sergeant John "Andy" Crotts for a "purr-fect" rescue and best wishes and thanks to the folks at Angels of Assisi as they work to find Toby his forever home.

  A couple of weeks ago a patient surprised Lynn Dozier with a bouquet of roses! When the patient came in for his procedure, he was extremely anxious. He shared with me that he almost didn't have the procedure and that Lynn's kind words of encouragement was the only reason that he did. Lynn, you have done it again, thank you for your commitment and compassion!

Monday morning 07/10/2023, Danielle was walking into the Parkview building when she heard a series of Meows coming from a nearby parked vehicle.  Danielle turned around and went to investigate and found that a kitten was hiding out under a parked car- at one time it was in the fender, and at another time it was under the hood of the vehicle.  This kitten was rescued by a group of concerned staff.

The Pediatric Oncology Clinic hosted a Social last night for current and former patients. The staff worked hard to come up with activities, prizes, and games for attendees.

I received an email from one of our amazing nurses telling me that when she drove in to work this morning, she noticed Lola Wells, one of our Lab team members, picking up cigarette butts from the town parking lot across the street from our Emergency Dept. I cannot describe how this made me feel.....on one hand, extremely disappointed that anyone would even need to pick up cigarette butts. This is littering and disrespect on so many levels.

Zane Doss, Clinical Associate, on 10 Mountain ICU, has demonstrated all the qualities that CRMH Bee Award exemplifies such as compassion and commitment. The BEE Award is given to outstanding ancillary staff for going above and beyond in their care of patients and families.

The CTCH campus is breathtaking after being adorned with flags by Karen Ray, a nurse in the Veteran's Clinic and her husband Robbie, an Army Veteran.  Karen has worked with Veterans in the Tazewell Community for nearly 10 years.  She and her family have such a heart for our Veterans and community.   We are proud to serve Veterans in Tazewell and grateful for Karen and the entire team in the Veteran's Clinic. 

During a very busy day on the postpartum unit, Alison worked diligently to get an issue resolved with a patient’s medication order in a timely manner. She then personally walked down a medication that was needed for the patient who was in severe pain. Her attention and dedication to the situation is so greatly appreciated. Thank you Alison, for your commitment to compassionate care! 

I just wanted to give a shout out to the pharmacy technician at Riverside 3 Pharmacy, Aida Vugdalic.  She went way out of her way to help me, a fellow Carilion Employee, get things straight on a pharmacy discount card for Xarelto.  If it hadn't been for her in the first place I would not have known that was available to me.  She told me how to get it and I did.
