Patients and families in the Pediatric Hematology and Oncology clinic and those admitted to our Pediatric floors will be well fed thanks to the Claire Parker Foundation! The foundation delivered a second Family Care Cart to Carilion Children's inpatient floor recently that's stocked with food and snacks for patients and their families to enjoy while in our care. The cart can be pushed around throughout the unit to ensure all have a chance to pick out their favorite snack!

Today we remember the loss of Dr. Swank. Four years ago today, we lost our Cardiologist, a friend, and a mentor to many. Dr. Swank had a famous quote, "You've got one round. Make it good!" As we reflect on today and remember him, I leave you with a quote from one of his peers... "The legacy that he has created will never be forgotten because it is alive within all of us who had the privilege to know him." 

Great job and true dedication to your patient well being.  They had a trauma patient whose husband died in the crash. They were able to coordinate with the local funeral home and arrange for the family to have a private viewing on their floor so that she and immediate family could say their goodbyes before she went to community rehab for 2 weeks.  Her RN that day was Sarah Booth

Camp Treehouse is a free day-camp for kids ages 6-18, who have lost a loved one and are working to process their grief. The Center for Grief and Healing’s arts-themed camp series explores how to create healing space for the unspeakable through art, music and movement. 

Hello Carilion Team!

This wow wall is dedicated to Ms. Jamie Tan in Patient Access in the emergency room. A few weeks ago my family member came in very sick and Jamie Tan was very kind and thoughtful to them, along with my other family members that came to support them. She was very polite, generous and eager to help my family member with her generosity kind soul. She was very precise, efficient and quick to register them. Jamie did not know this was my family until I came into the emergency department and they spoke very highly of Jamie.

Patricia Coloton, Resource Pool - Patient Care Technician, embodies those qualities of a caring and compassionate care giver.  We are so fortunate to have Patricia taking care of our patients and families here at CRMH

Catie Park, PharmD.

Catie exemplifies all of Carilion's Core Values.  In my case, her compassion is what I appreciate the most today.  She stepped up to assist with scheduling to allow me to spend time with my sister. 

Arwen Quin from CRMH ED is amazing to work with. Arwen is always helping out her coworkers and her upbeat positive attitude always brightens everyone's day. She is famous for leaving comical notes around the ED that gives us a chuckle. Arwen is also an amazing nurse. She consistently goes above and beyond for her patients and has some of the best bedside manner I have ever seen. She provides amazing nursing care and her patients are lucky to have her as a nurse. 

This is what a true public servant looks like.
