I want to thank the ED staff that were here on 7/24/2023. My grandmother was brought in via squad and they immediately started her care. She is now in ICU and it isn't looking good but they are doing all they can. Everyone has been so nice and supportive. My family is so appreciative of you and all you have done and are contiueing to do. 

July 23rd is World Castleman Disease Day. Castleman's Disease is a rare autoimmune disease that has no cure. I was diagnosed in March of 2020 and have been traveling to Duke for treatments every 3 weeks since. My work family at Brambleton has shown me great love and support in my Castleman's journey. Transport at CNRVMC wish to thank Alicia in PACU for her help when we have been short staffed . She has been a huge help to our department when PACU patients needed to be there and we might be backed up with other jobs.

Heather Simpson RN was the room circulator for my OR day this week. When our third case of the day was about to be put on hold due to staffing shortages for the end of the day, Heather volunteered to stay so that the case did not have to be postponed or rescheduled. This patient is a special needs child who has been waiting for GA for dental care for almost two years, and was already rescheduled from earlier this week due to anesthesia shortages. Their family lives several hours away and relies on Medicaid transport, so many barriers to care would have to be addressed to reschedule them.

Huge shout out to our Security staff that are substituting at CASB for another employee. Thank you so much for making sure we are safe here at CASB every day! We appreciate you very much! And so friendly.

Ivan (RN) in the emergency department!

I was humbled to learn that Patrick D'Onofrio, a fourth-year VTCSOM student, drove to North Roanoke Assisted Living last night to retrieve the prosthetic leg for a man who is currently hospitalized at CRMH. Earlier in the day, this patient was distraught because he thought his prosthesis has been lost during emergency transportation, an Emergency Department visit, and a stay in our ICU. It could not be found, but Patrick was on the case and went to impressive lengths to find this valuable device and deliver it to his patient!
