This is National Volunteer Week!

Submitted by slflowers on

We are grateful for our Carilion volunteers every week, but beginning today--the launch of National Volunteer Week 2022--we make an even bigger splash over them!

I have the good fortune to surprise them all week with a small token of thanks for their service. Their gradual return beginning last July and continued service during this difficult time of COVID-19 is truly admirable and shows their commitment to our patients, guests and staff.

If you see a volunteer this week, please take an extra moment to thank them for their service.

Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital (CRMH) has earned ENERGY STAR® certification from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency! The next time you visit, check out the decal on display at our main lobby entrance – it represents proven, verified superior energy performance over a 12-month period. In fact, ENERGY STAR certified buildings perform in the top 25 percent of similar buildings nationwide! This is the 3rd year that CRMH has earned this certification.

WOW Jackie!

I am fairly new to the Carilion family and working in the Crystal Springs building. I have had the pleasure of meeting Jackie. He always greets everyone with a smile and a little conversation and is willing to stop and help with a smile! Jackie you are awesome!

National Telecommunicators Week

I would like at this time to recognize a group of persons that are true unseen & unsung heroes within Carilion Clinic; that would be the Dispatchers of Carilion Clinic Police/Security Department. They are never seen but constantly heard when you call 981-7911 (77911). With a combined 157 years dispatching experience, these folks are answering calls for service 24/7/365. Last month alone these Dispatchers received over 400 calls for service.

Dr. Fintel and Company

Submitted by wlray on

My department has been collaborating with Dr. Fintel and his team to increase opportunities for holistic care for the patients in the hospital and after their discharge.  In thinking about the importance and value of our roles, we did not just have a meeting about this in an office with 4 walls, a computer, a desk, and chairs.  In regular, Dr. Fintel fashion, he took us up to meet the people we would be working for....the patients.  Wow, did that put an energetic spin on the planning. It was no longer just a program, it was a service. Thank you, Dr.

Jackie Wagner at Brambleton, Pre Registration

Submitted by tselkins on

I had the privilege to interact with Jackie as a patient on 4/4/22, when she called to pre register me for a procedure. Jackie was polite, kind and compassionate as well as very professional in our interaction. Often times, the first contact a patient has is the secretaries, or HAA on the other end of the line and I am proud to say I work with someone who is displaying the values we have as Carilion employees.

This one goes out to Keayrria Muse and Teresa Reid who work with me in the emergency department, it's an absolute pleasure to work with such talented group of people who always put patients' well being above all else. Past few years have been extremely challenging for the department, and this hospital appreciates everything you did and continue to do, thank you for everything and keep saving lives!
