We want to make sure that clinicians and patients know when a procedure has not been authorized by the patient’s insurance provider and that there is a process in place to determine next steps.

We're Updating the Code Status Language in Epic

Submitted by eapullin on

We're making updates to the code status language in Epic to reduce confusion and make it clear when the patient's advance care planning wishes need to be documented.

In Epic, code status refers to a patient's wishes regarding resuscitation during a medical emergency, particularly cardiac or respiratory arrest. It's a set of instructions for the medical team indicating what measures to take, or not take, to try and revive a patient.
