Cardiovascular Institute is Now Open at the CRMH Crystal Spring Tower
The Cardiovascular Institute is now open at CRMH, as the final phase of opening the Crystal Spring Tower. The tower will bring many of our Cardiovascular experts under one roof, utilizing state-of-the-art equipment and technology to provide the best quality care for patients. It also fosters collaboration among increasingly specialized teams, building on research, clinical education and innovation that advances care for patients, now and into the future.
Patient experience was central to the tower’s design. It has a new lobby cafe, interfaith chapel and 550-space parking garage at the corner of McClanahan and Jefferson Streets with a connecting pedestrian bridge.
This building is equipped with special features to make the hospital experience more comfortable for patients and families. Key features include:
- 3 cardiothoracic surgery operating rooms
- 2 endovascular operating rooms
- 2 general vascular operating rooms
- 6 cardiac catheterization labs
- 3 electrophysiology labs
- Additional advanced imaging technology
- Advanced heart failure clinic space with infusion services
Our teams worked throughout the weekend to safely transfer our patients to the new space. Unit by unit, led by department leaders and the CVI command center, each space was successfully and smoothly moved.

The covered bridge over Jefferson Street is now open as well, connecting the Crystal Spring Tower with the new 550-space garage at the corner of McClanahan Street SW and Jefferson Street SW and giving more convenience to those visiting the new hospital space.
In addition, the cafeteria connection is also open for business!
