Both sales will feature a variety of flowering plants grown by Riverbend Nursery in Riner, VA!

This is part of their 6-year strategic plan and will mark an important milestone in their role as a premier destination for healthcare education and talent development in our region.

Throughout the month of April, we are proud to recognize Earth Day with a variety of activities and initiatives that highlight sustainability efforts across our organization.
Our Conflict of Interest (COI) Questionnaires are one way we uphold our organization's Code of Excellence and avoid situations that could harm our reputation, finances, or tax-exempt status.
We send the COI Questionnaire and related education each year to employees who may influence operational decisions, and to others with positions where additional review may be appropriate based on potential risk considerations and trends.

Due to the continued prevalence of flu in our region, the masking requirement for employees who did not receive a flu vaccine has been extended.
Unvaccinated team members will be required to continue wearing a surgical mask through Wednesday, April 15 when they are working at any Carilion location. This applies to employees, physicians, independent practitioners, students, volunteers, and contract staff who work in our facilities.
Leaders should continue to reinforce masking expectations for unvaccinated team members in their departments.
The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) is reporting about new confirmed measles cases in Southwest Virginia. The regional count thus far is 6 for 2026.
VDH is leading the response, contact tracing, and public messaging. Carilion front-line teams also have extensive plans in place to respond should a measles patient present at a Carilion facility.
Measles is a highly contagious illness that can spread easily through the air when an infected person breathes, coughs, or sneezes.
To support our commitment to sustainability and our mission to improve the health of the communities we serve, we are moving away from foam cups and food containers and moving to paper and other approved alternatives across our organization.
This also ensures compliance with Virginia’s ban on expanded polystyrene (EPS) food service containers, which are commonly called Styrofoam.
