Update About Our Accreditation Processes
We’re excited to share that we are transitioning our hospital accreditation program from The Joint Commission to DNV Healthcare and our Home Health and Hospice accreditation to Community Health Accreditation Partners (CHAP).
These changes reflect our continued commitment to quality, patient safety, and continuous improvement.
About DNV
DNV is a CMS-approved accrediting organization that combines CMS accreditation requirements with quality management principles. This model encourages organizations to continuously evaluate and improve systems and processes rather than focusing primarily on periodic inspection and compliance activities.
Our teams who have worked with DNV through specialty accreditation programs have had positive experiences with their collaborative and solutions-focused approach.
One key difference you’ll notice is that DNV uses annual surveys as part of a continuous readiness model. This approach encourages ongoing engagement and improvement rather than preparing for a single survey event. We expect surveys for all hospitals to take place in September.
About CHAP
CHAP is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of care in home and community-based healthcare settings. CHAP serves as both an accrediting body and a collaborative partner, helping organizations meet national standards and achieve strong patient outcomes.
CHAP’s standards and survey approach are designed specifically for post-acute care services. We expect CHAP surveys to take place in September/October.
What This Means for You
Your day-to-day work remains the same: providing exceptional patient care, prioritizing patient safety, and following our policies and procedures.
In the coming months, our Clinical Advancement and Patient Safety team will share more information about DNV. If you work in Home Health and Hospice, your leaders will share more details about CHAP accreditation.
We know you may have questions. While we are still in the early stages of making this change, we have created a FAQ with some key information, which you can download below.
