Going above and beyond

Submitted by tmstclair on

Recently I worked with a patient who was struggling with multiple issues, including recently making the decision to become clean from addiction. However, after his hospital stay he came home to very little food and no transportation or access to get any delivered. My department works remotely, and it was a Friday afternoon around 4:00pm. I called various food pantries and couldn't get through and checked various resources but found it difficult to get any food donations to him. My coworker Mandy Farris and manager Sarah Bradley came through for my patient and I in a BIG way!

Kudos to the Oncology Nursing and Medical Teams

Submitted by tkclugston on

I want to give a huge shoutout to Julie Wright and the Oncology team on 10 South. I had a family member require emergent care due to a new CA diagnosis. The nursing and medical teams were very caring and compassionate. The Dr's and Nurse's advocated for the patient to ensure that they received the treatment that they needed very quickly. The care of Julie's team and Dr. Osborne and the rest of attending and consulting teams saved their life. Many people worked together to save their life so that they have the opportunity to fight this CA.

Dr. Sadiq Shares Food, Culture and Celebration

Submitted by cteverett on

Dr. Saima Sadiq is very compassionate in choosing every year to share her celebration with her practice members here at Parkway Blue Ridge Family Practice. She actively practices Ramadan and has Eid Mubarak with us (blessed feast celebration at the end of Ramadan). She prepares ALL the food from her culture and brings it in to share with us. We feel extra special and you know what that does to the work environment  ... raises morale!

A Passion for Security

Submitted by rrdonelson on

I just wanted to share with you all the kind act that Security Officer Mayo demonstrated this morning. I have been working on a stolen phone report this morning and the victim was very upset and stressed due to not having money for a new phone. Out of the kindness in S/O Mayo's heart, he gave the victim a cell phone that he owned and was no longer using anymore. I'm proud of his hard work and kindness towards patients, coworkers, and staff.  -Police Officer Morgan Witt

Riverside Cafe

The staff at Riverside Cafe was SUPER friendly and helpful. Everyone visiting might have been there for a different reason, but the staff greeted each one with a smile and greeting. The three-gentleman working in there should be recognized for their hard work, fresh food and kindness. The Riverside Cafe might see you for breakfast, lunch or a quick snack while you are on the go. But just know the smiles and kindness goes a long way even on a tough day.

Above and Beyond

Submitted by kmevans on

Hayley Wilburn and Teresa Westbrook went above and beyond with a patient. Hayley Wiburn our front desk staff and one of our nurses Teresa took time out of their busy schedules to help a patient learn how to answer his cell phone. This patient is an older patient and is new to using a cell phone but they made sure he knew how to answer the phone and saved our number in his phone just in case he needed more help.
