The CRMH Bee Award was developed to honor and recognize the outstanding job that our nursing support staff play in the care of our patients.  Sandra truly went above and beyond in helping this young patient achieve an important goal in his recovery. Please take a moment to read this wonderful story.

My son was diagnosed with Hirschsprung's Disease this year. Our world was shattered as he had to undergo multiple surgeries and have an ostomy bag. After the bag was in place, our spirits were low as we wondered how life would look now. At the time, he didn't want to get up and walk because it hurt him too badly. Our CA, Sandy, started bringing him small presents to hide so he would get up and walk. It made a world of difference in a time when we felt defeated. We had to come back for another surgery and we felt so much stronger that time knowing she would be by our side. Once again, she brought gifts to encourage walking. We exchanged numbers and kept in touch, and when I texted her that his ostomy revision surgery would be soon, she immediately said she would be stocking up on gifts. She kept her promise and as our stay has been prolonged to 2 1/2 weeks, Sandy has been a constant source of joy and encouragement. We love her so much and believe she is what makes this peds floor so great. She deserves this award more than anyone!
