Going above and beyond
Recently I worked with a patient who was struggling with multiple issues, including recently making the decision to become clean from addiction. However, after his hospital stay he came home to very little food and no transportation or access to get any delivered. My department works remotely, and it was a Friday afternoon around 4:00pm. I called various food pantries and couldn't get through and checked various resources but found it difficult to get any food donations to him. My coworker Mandy Farris and manager Sarah Bradley came through for my patient and I in a BIG way! Mandy had access to a local food pantry and was able to get a box of food that evening after hours. Sarah worked with Mandy to arrange a meet up and Sarah delivered the food to my patient for me as they were more local to him. I know they are aware that they helped him in such an important way, but they don't know how much I appreciate their help, dedication, and compassion. I am so blessed to work with my team!
