Aaron Cooke , Carilion Tazewell Community Hospital Dietary Services manager,  went above and beyond to assist a patient on Tuesday, July 29, 2025. Mr. Cooke observed a Physical Therapy patient having difficulty ambulating to her appointment. He immediately ran to her aid. He escorted her to her destination within the facility while providing support to insure that she would arrive safely without injury. He also worked to get her a wheelchair for safer transportation within the facility during her visit and provided comfort and care to ease the patients anxiety.

As Sheena was finishing her shift, she heard a woman nearby in pain. Without hesitation, she rushed to assist and found a young woman clearly in active labor. While attempting to safely escort her to Labor and Delivery, it became evident that the baby was arriving imminently. With calm and skillful action, Sheena positioned herself to assist and guided the mother through the delivery, helping bring a healthy baby boy into the world — right there in the lobby. In the end Sheena stated, "Mom was crying, the baby was crying, and I was crying!"

I wanted to say Thank You to two of my coworkers for taking time out of their day without hesitation for a patient that walked into our clinic having a panic attack due to her husband's recently poor prognosis. Dr. Inman and Hanah without hesitation took this patient to a room and provided care to them although Dr. Inman's schedule was full. Thank you, ladies, for this. It's times like these that remind me why I am in healthcare.

"Amber was the best nurse for my grandma; her bedside manner has been the best that I have seen. She is so kind not only with her patients but with their family as well.

We need more nurses like her!"  

I am new to Carilion clinic Giles ,while i was eating lunch in the cafeteria there was older couple man and wife came in to eat lunch, Typical lunch rush as many other were in line, As time will do to us all. Time will slows us down and makes things more difficult. This couple needed assistance as they came through the line.

One of our Executive Leaders assisted someone who was  lost. I wanted to post this as an example of helping others regardless of who you are. At Carilion Clinic, we have a strong culture of servant leadership, kindness and helping others. This example is also one of proper follow up and taking some form of action so that there is no repeat of past negative behavior or consequences.  

While doing rounds outside, Mark, CNRV Officer encountered two dogs, to find out later was 7 miles from home. He provided them with water and food and attempted to contact the owner using the information from their collars. After 2 hours, he spoke with the owner, who was willing to come to the hospital to get his dogs. Mark placed the dogs into the vehicle in the air condition. While waiting for the owner, he noticed in the parking lot a woman on the ground near her car. After observing, he realized she had fallen. He then spoke with the patient.

Casey showed such compassion for my niece and kindness to us her family. She took great care of my niece and moved her to a more comfortable position and lobbied to the doctor for her. After my niece was moved, Casey even came to visit her there.
