Servant leadership and the Carilion Way

Submitted by ctcline on

One of our Executive Leaders assisted someone who was  lost. I wanted to post this as an example of helping others regardless of who you are. At Carilion Clinic, we have a strong culture of servant leadership, kindness and helping others. This example is also one of proper follow up and taking some form of action so that there is no repeat of past negative behavior or consequences.

Below is a statement reflecting the action that this  Carilion Clinic Leader took. Thank you to this leader for giving us a shining example of how to treat our community and our people. Thank you for portraying every single Carilion Clinic Value.

"I was flagged down last week by a woman and her mother in the Springhill Suites parking lot who were lost and trying to get to R1.

From Giles County – never been to Riverside before – said they followed the “detour” signs (which mean nothing to someone that’s never been to Riverside before) and then the “Patients” sign with the arrow.

Then when they exited the parking garage they got turned around (again, never been here before) and walked the opposite direction they should have gone. It was 97 degrees, so I put them in the car and drove them to R1."
