Last Friday my daughter was a very sick little girl, feverish and dehydrated.  We needed some blood work and she was very scared and not feeling well.  Angela Lilly and the nursing/lab staff were AMAZING.  It was a very difficult task but everyone came together and the COMPASSION displayed was incredible. 

Thank you so much to everyone, sorry I'm not good with names but I'll list a few I can remember.. Susan Dunford, Pam Dent, Amanda Reece and of course, Angela Lilly.  Awesome job!!

Please join Guest Services in recognizing our CRMH Parking team for a card I received from one of our recent guests who lost a loved one.  The card read:

"My heart is full of love and gratitude for the care each of you gave my dad.  You all had compassion with a smile every time we connected with each other.  Dad and I would chat about how you were like family to us.  'Thank you' does not seem like a big enough word to express my appreciation.  Please know each of you are always in my heart.”

The Merriam-Webster definition of Compassion is sympathetic consciousness of others distress together with a desire to alleviate it.  Based on the definition it is easy to see why Compassion is one of Carilion's values.

Each day the Guest & Volunteer Services Team at CNRV diligently attends to all details to make sure their patients and guests are taken care of.  Whether it's parking their cars, helping them with wayfinding, giving them a ride to another location on campus or simply offering a smile or just listening to them.  The guest services team is spot on in making sure people are treated professionally and with respect.

I truly want to thank Dr. Powell and her staff at Carilion Dental for putting my faith back into going to the dentist.  After years of horror stories I've had with other dentists, Dr. Powell has puts all the others to shame.  Her compassion for my needs and well being are above the charts.  I hope Carilion continues to support such wonderful Doctors like Dr. Powell. 

CCU Nurses, Whitney Sprinkel, Andra Fridley, Lindsay Young, Bethany David, Kristen Overfelt, Becky Dampeer, Susan Biggs and Dr. Foerst created a special anniversary dinner for one our patient's and his wife. They celebrated their anniversary with us and the staff help create a celebration for their 51 years of marriage. The patient and his wife were dinned with Outback dinner, flowers, cake, and a banner that is hanging in the room. All smiles for this lovely couple!

Lauren Goater- Mathis, PA showed outstanding clinical judgment, resourcefulness and perseverance in the care of one of her patients at the Carilion Inpatient Rehabilitation unit that well exceeds expectations.

She was taking care of a patient severe neurological condition for which the patient had progressive neurological deterioration.

Just a quick thank you to all the nurses and nursing assistants on mother/baby for helping me transition from orientation to my first few weeks off orientation.

The ones who were most helpful to me were Danielle Flowers and Megan Nobles. Both of these nurses go above and beyond for their patients and answered any questions I had on what needed to be done.

In my transition from day shift NA to night shift NA, Danielle and Megan helped me learn the differences in the shifts. My night shift nursing assistants were also amazing in helping me whenever I needed.

On May 7th, I had to visit the ED after a fall with extreme back pain. I went to the Lobby Pharmacy at CRMH to fill prescription, by wheelchair, I only had so many steps I could take. There was a problem with the insurance company computer,for authorization, I waited for hours,but had to get home. I started the long trek to the parking garage-without medicine. Suddenly,I heard my name called-turned to see Shaina Palmer,Pharmacy Associate,running to catch me to say Rx went through! Thank you Shaina,for "running" to help relieve my pain!
