There are not enough kind words to express how blessed we are to have Judy Conley working with Giles  Family Practice in the care of our patients. She is always caring and compassionate, and the ease of collaboration with her in ensuring our patients are seen in a timely manner is an asset. Judy is always ahead of the game, and a true patient advocate for the patient, doing her best to do anything needed to ensure the best care is provided. She is always smiling, and joyful when working with her and it does not go unnoticed.

On Saturday, March 20, Carilion Tazewell Community Hospital along with Tazewell County and Virginia Department of Health held a mass vaccination event in Tazewell.  Together, along with over 120 volunteers from our community, we were able to vaccinate over 1200 people.  It was an incredible display of collaboration!

Our Marketing and Communications team has done it again! The 2021 Shine Awards ceremony was broadcast Monday night, March 8 as a virtual event on Facebook Live and YouTube Live. A team of some 20 professionals from across our department began planning last summer, and employed new technology and techniques to ensure the virtual Shine Awards were as special as our past in-person events. Your innovation and creativity made for a heartwarming and uplifting night for our employees. Thank you all!

On Saturday, March 6th, Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital conducted a "Drive Thru Vaccine Clinic" at a local middle school in Rocky Mount, (Franklin County) VA. This clinic was planned and implemented in collaboration with the West Piedmont Health District, the Franklin County Sheriff Dept, our United Way partners and  members of the Rocky Mount Rotary Club. McDonalds of Rocky Mount provided lunch for every volunteer that participated.

A recent project to ensure safe patient care was exemplary of interprofessional collaboration.  Most ED patients have orders for cardiac monitoring but were traveling to Imaging destinations for exams without being monitored.  While compliance and others confirmed this was acceptable if there was a provider order that the patient may travel without monitoring, the ED stepped up and provided a resource to monitor to ensure continuity of care as a stop-gap measure until we confirmed the practice was compliant.  After compliance research, a solution was generated in the form of
