Thank you to the schedulers at the Jefferson St Breast Care Center  for the awesome job they do scheduling our patients and for providing them with information on resources in case they cannot afford their mammograms. I had the pleasure of enrolling a patient into the Every Woman's Life Program for her annual screening mammogram. She found out about the program when she called to cancel her screening mammogram. Connie informed her that she was not going to cancel the appointment until she spoke to EWL.

Kudos to our Guest Services leaders Frank Bryant, Manager (left), and Ricky McKinney, Parking Team Lead (right), for leading their team through change as construction continues on the front of CRMH. Their collaboration with the construction crew and thoughtfulness of our patients and guests has enabled stages of the work to be completed with patient safety as a top priority. We applaud Frank and Ricky for their leadership and their team for providing top notch-care and concern for our patients during this time.

I want to recognize these ladies for taking numerous phone calls during the last few months regarding COVID vaccinations. One day in particular, they answered my request to help a patient needing to have the vaccine administered in an office setting where she could lay down & be observed following vaccination. All of the managers responded quickly and Tara Mullins was able to see the patient in her physician's office. Thanks ladies for your help & collaboration!

Congratulations to the CNRV Nursing staff on their recent Pathway to Excellence designation. Currently only 7 hospitals in Virginia and 195  hospitals nationwide have received this designation!

On Tuesday, one of our amazing providers Dr. Saima Sadiq brought in food to share with our staff.  She cooked different Pakistani foods for everyone to try (if they wanted, and EVERYONE did!).  Dr. Sadiq recently completed Ramadan and as is tradition she feasted with her family, and this year she included her work family too.  It was so neat to get to try foods that were new to us and to get to celebrate with her!  We are all so thankful to get to work with such an incredible, caring doctor.

Leaders and front line staff from CGCH nursing units recently held a Crash Cart work day and went through the various carts in the facility to ensure consistency with both supplies and medications.  We are so grateful for a team who are always willing to make improvements in the care we provide!

CFMH suspended Obstetric services in 2011.  Since then, the ED may have one delivery per calendar year.  But on April 16th, 2021, we doubled up our yearly deliveries in one day!  (And it wasn't twins!)  Three days post education provided by the Perinatal Outreach team, Dr. Philpott and his team went through the motions to begin and to end their twelve hour shift.  Dr.

They say it takes a village to get things completed sometimes and this exact event took a huge team effort. It makes me extremely proud to be a member of the Carilion family. Saturday April 24, 2021 a Carilion apheresis nurse, Frank Doyle, successfully completed the second pediatric RBC depletion/exchange treatment. This treatment is performed on the patient population that have Sickle Cell Disease to assist in removing sickled cells, this improves their quality of live by decreasing their pain and preventing hospitalization due to exacerbations.
