I wanted to give A HUGE SHOUT OUT regarding David Robey's upmost attention and willingness to help in various ways to support our screeners in the lobby. He is "Johnny on the Spot",when a situation arises, he is on it. He helps us corral the visitors inside in the morning at 9am. He also alerts us when we are low on wheelchairs. All these things help our department tremendously! Thank you, we appreciate you!!!

Angela joined Carilion in the lab in 1997 where she developed critical thinking skills and a passion for promoting patient safety.  She transitioned to Infection Control in 2011 as an Infection Preventionist.  She serves as the Infection Control Co-Chair for the Hand Hygiene Charter Team and is very enthusiastic about stopping the spread of hospital-acquired infections through proper hand hygiene.  Angela loves working with her colleagues and spreading the word on infection prevention.

During an evening ceremony at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Dr. Cheryl Hartman was honored as the first recipient of the Cheri Hartman Service Award. This award, established in the name of Cheri Hartman, recognizes an individual who has given exceptional time, energy and resources in volunteer service to youth and families in the Roanoke Valley. Cheri served the Community Youth Program as a founder, board member, advisor, mentor, advocate and friend.

I worked on the floor for 7S PCU o 7/1/21- day shift and night shift were excellent. Friendly, welcoming and very helpful. It was a great experience. They're night shift team was great!

Katie Saylors on MCU is so knowledgeable and helpful! She is always there to help out whether she is charge nurse or on the floor. 

Jordan Yates from clinical transport saved the whole day when he went out of his way to find a nursing bra for a postpartum patient on our unit! He followed up for an order that had been teletracked from central supply and to let us know that item was unavailable. After nursing staff made 12+ calls to various other departments in house in an attempt to obtaina nursing bra, we had just about given up hope. But Jordan went out of his way and took the time to go downstairs to grab one from the OR. We are so grateful for his help!

Thanks for helping out as a team and making me feel helped and safe. You guys are great! Olivia and Emmanuel, thank you! And of course everyone else it was group effort.

A big thank you for the collaboration between the Design Team and MarCom for sorting more than 300 hand-painted ceiling tiles. This is part of a project with Taubman Museum of Art and Roanoke City Schools. Eventually, you will see the tiles in many of our Carilion Children's locations. 

The Girl Scout motto in 1912 was " Do a good turn daily." Bobby Wimmer RN, 8M PCU, did just that. His good deed included bringing 1,200 boxes of donated Girl Scout cookies of Virginia Skyline to the frontline healthcare heroes. The boxes were passed out to numerous employees of Roanoke Memorial. We would like to thank Bobby and the Girl Scouts for this kind donation.

The Infusion Center on 1South welcomed it's first patient on Tuesday June 8th. There are too many people and departments to thank for their collaboration on this project.  Thank you to everyone who helped with a very smooth transition from 6 West Infusion that made for a successful first day!!!
