Carilion Direct "angel" saves the day!

Submitted by elwright on

Everyday our department takes calls from patients lost that need help finding where their appointments are. Our group does an outstanding job helping them, but one day in April our very own Patrice Holland was declared an "angel" by one of our patients! The patient called in running 10 minutes late because her GPS took her downtown and she was lost. She had driven 1.5 hours to get to Roanoke and had to take a day off from work.

Mr. Battin did an amazing job hanging several pieces of Carilion art today.  The Design Group

was kind enough to allow Internal Medicine Residency to have three prints and a tackboard.  Mr. Battin

came to the office, reinstalled hanging fixtures to each of the four pieces and then expertly mounted

them to our walls.  He was so pleasant and professional.  It was a treat to meet him and we love his work!

Thank you!

For the 2021 Hand Hygiene Day Melissa transformed the Frog into Rosie the Ribbiter. Rosie will be visiting staff to hand out Hand Hygiene Information and goodies.  She will also kick off a new program to monitor Hand Hygiene that will include patients. The new program will provide cards to patients to allow them to participate in hand hygiene observations.

She coordinates with our physicians, nurses, pharmacy, and patient access to make sure we can appropriately schedule our patients. She is very professional, detail oriented, and has excellent customer service and communication skills. We appreciate her so much!
