Karen Dillon joined our team as front door screener and has used her artistic talent to positively enhance the daily required screening process for our patients. Along with logging the temperature on the daily screening stickers, she takes the time to embellish each one with motivational words and a cheerful doodle.
The latest breaking news of the day - After 22 years of service to Carilion New River Valley Medical Center, Brenda Early has decided to retire. Her last working day will be Tuesday, June 1, 2021. Brenda has been an integral part of Carilion and her contribution will always be valued and remembered. Her hard work, commitment, and dedication are worth admiration.
The Salem Rotary Club honored Carilion's nurses with the Roy W. Henrickson Outstanding Citizen of the Year Award last week at a luncheon at the Salem Civic Center.
This award is given annually in recognition of distinguished service to the community, steadfast dedication to the high calling of good citizenship and faithful devotion to those ideas, which have made America strong and free. Carilion had five representatives at the luncheon to accept the award on behalf of all our health care workers. Health care workers across the region were also honored.
Hasan Kazmi has been recognized by the American College of Clinical Pharmacists (ACCP) for his contributions as a reviewer for a book chapter on Medication Management During PCI. The Cardiology Self-Assessment Program (CardSAP) books provide the latest evidence-based information to individuals wishing to improve their pharmacotherapy skills and improve patient outcomes. CardSAP is designed to be a learning tool at a very high level (i.e., for the Board Certified Cardiology Pharmacist) and takes up where textbooks leave off.
Today marks Elizabeth Rutrough's 20th year working at Carilion -- what a day for the department of OB/GYN to celebrate having her on our team! Over the years Elizabeth has held several roles within our department. Anyone who has had the pleasure of working with her quickly comes to recognize and appreciate her strong work ethic, sincere compassion for others, and great sense of humor. Susie Reeser is retiring June 1st. She has been a tech for 45 years and has been with Carilion the majority of that time. She has performed many diagnostic studies as well as many mammograms in her years as a Radiologic and Mammography technologist. Join me in congratulating her on retiring! Susie, I'm jealous! This is a huge milestone! Enjoy every minute of it as I am sure you will!!
Family Medicine Vinton along with the Care Coordination team were able to schedule 100% of their high risk patients with a follow up appointment within 7 days of discharge for the month of April! They have demonstrated commitment to ensure their patients are set up for a successful care transition experience. It is evident they have prioritized the need for patients at high risk of readmission to be seen in a timely manner in their office. This enables providers to intervene in post-discharge issues that may lead to readmissions if not addressed. This is GREAT WORK!
We celebrated our staff with a cookout, breakfast and ice cream during the week. We also had theme week! We had a great time. Brambleton Family Practice is great because of our staff!!! #CarilionProud
