Information About the Unclaimed Property List

Submitted by abshaver on

Each year, the Commonwealth of Virginia Unclaimed Property List is published in Virginia newspapers. It was published in the Roanoke Times on Sunday, June 7.

This list includes the names of owners of unclaimed property held by the Virginia Department of Treasury’s Unclaimed Property Division, which serves as a central "lost and found" of money or other property owed by businesses which are unclaimed, abandoned, or forgotten by the owner.

Understanding Recent Reports About Rural Hospitals

Submitted by abshaver on

You may have seen recent news coverage about a report that examined the financial health of rural hospitals across the state. The report identified several hospitals it considers at “higher risk,” including CGCH and CTCH.

While these reports highlight real challenges facing rural healthcare, they don't always tell the full story.

The most important takeaway—there are no plans to close our hospitals. Our focus remains on supporting our teams and communities as well as advocating for state and federal programs that make that work possible.

We are pursuing our sixth Magnet designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Carilion Medical Center (CMC) first achieved Magnet recognition in 2003 and have successfully maintained the designation through 5 consecutive cycles. This achievement places our organization among a select group of healthcare organizations nationwide recognized for sustained nursing excellence.

Stay Alert: Fake Help Desk Teams Calls

Submitted by abshaver on

We have seen some recent phishing attempts with scammers sending excessive spam emails and then following up with a Teams call impersonating our Technology Services Group. The Teams call said that the caller was “Help Desk.”

Our TSG team does not usually call employees unless the employee has submitted a ticket. If you receive a call from someone at TSG, you will see their name and not “Help Desk.”
