UPDATE: Aug. 4: The RQI training launch issue has been resolved. If you experience issues, open a ticket in Employee Center.

Carilion staff assigned Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) training may receive an error message when trying to launch training through Workday. 

Education and Organizational Development and RQI teams are aware of the issue and are working with Technology Services Group (TSG) to identify a solution. At this time, there is no estimated timeline for when the issue will be resolved.

A ribbon cutting event for our new Family and Community Medicine – Tazewell practice (282 Market Street in Tazewell) was held on Tuesday, August 4. The practice is officially open to patients, and the new location offers 16 exam rooms, 4 procedure rooms, as well as onsite lab capabilities.

U.S. News & World Report released its latest hospital rankings, and Carilion received several honors. Our flagship hospital, CRMH, maintained its ranking as “Best Hospital” in the region. 

CRMH was rated as high performing in 13 procedures and conditions: 

One day a week, Nicholas L. Rider, D.O., an immunology and clinical informatics specialist, sees pediatric and adult patients at Carilion Clinic’s Allergy and Immunology clinic at Tanglewood in Roanoke. 

Other days find him at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine’s CHILI (for computational human immunology lab and innovation hub), where he leads a team of researchers using complex healthcare data to gain new insights on immune disorders.

Patients with brain and urologic cancers will soon have access to a broader array of the latest treatment options here, thanks to new clinical trials at Carilion for targeted radiopharmaceutical therapies.

Radiopharmaceuticals, also known as “theranostics,” is a form of precision medicine that uses radioactive isotopes for both imaging and therapy, and has been shown to be effective in treating a wide range of tumors.

A new school year comes with lots of changes. Even kids who enjoy school can feel worried about things like fitting in, having a new teacher, or keeping up with schoolwork.

For younger children, the biggest concern is often being away from their parents or comfort zones. Older kids and teens may worry more about grades, friendships, or social pressures.
