I want to give a shout out to someone who is always courteous, kind and very respectful to staff and our patients. Tracy in OR postings is ALWAYS willing to help no matter the question or problem. If she can't fix the problem she is willing to help find someone who can. She is a valuable asset to Carilion and our patients.  

A patient was being seen in our clinic today and Porchae Jenkins, CMA noted significantly elevated blood pressure when she was rooming him.  She asked the patient about medication and he answered none.  While he had health insurance and knew he had high blood pressure, he did not have a doctor and didn't know how to go about getting established with one.  She took extra time to explain how it works and, while he was here, got him a new patient appointment with a provider taking new patients then also gave him contact information about Community Care so he could be seen for th

10 Moutain staff gathered to wish one of our patients farewell as they advanced in their journey.  The patient was with 10 Mountain ICU and PCU for over 35 days.  Staff are so excited to see the family and patient achieve this next level in their journey.  Staff from all areas that helped care for the patient gathered to wish her farewell.  Family wishes to thank everyone that took care of the patient.  Pictured are the many staff that helped make sure the patient got the BEST care!!

James Justus, Guest Service Manager at Carilion Children's Tanglewood Center spread holiday cheer to the staff at CCTC with a cart of goodies.  James goes above and beyond daily for our patients, families, and staff.  Thank you James for leading by example.  You represent all the Carilion values and we are lucky to have you at CCTC. 

CFMHs Kim Newman is a wonderful woman to work with. She gave out Holiday socks for the staff. Kim always goes above and beyond for our patients, staff, and coworkers. 

Carilion's outpatient ambulatory departments launched the DAISY and BEE award programs in FY24. The first quarter winners are Lydia Seipel, RN (DAISY) and Mitzi Young (BEE)! Their heart-warming nominations highlighted the amazing, compassionate care they provide. We appreciate their commitment to our patients and our Carilion values. Congrats Lydia and Mitzi! 

While the holidays may be a time of celebration, they can also be a season of remembering and grieving those we've loved and lost.  The holidays can be particularly challenging for our patients and their families as they are navigating the journey at end of life.  Our entire community of employees is so generous, and our hospice teams across our footprint work tirelessly to ensure the needs of our patients and families are met in special ways.  Our teams have received donations from our own internal departments as well as our partner organizations that have brought many smile

Thank you to our Pediatric Hospice Team for making this Christmas extra special for a patient. They arranged for Santa to visit the patient in his home, bringing joy to him and his family this holiday season. Krysta Smoot, pediatric hospice nurse, was there to support the patient and family during the visit and Jessie Palmer, hospice certified music therapist, also joined to play holiday tunes.
