Belle Bowman a CA on 6 West received a Bee award for her loyal and trustworthy nature. She was recognized by a patient that stated Belle never made her feel rushed when she was being cared for. The patient went on to say that Belle helped her maintain her dignity and she did not feel like a burden. Belle has been nominated several times this year for her compassionate patient care. Congratulations, it is well deserved.
There was a patient with significant medical challenges that is part of a refugee resettlement ministry. We heard from the representative of the ministry that Lindsay Ruch, OT did great work making sure her recommendations were practically and functionally tailored to the patient's circumstances. Jess Perkins, Rehab CTL assisted Lindsay in a back-channel investigation as to why the patient's referral was not getting through the system.
Brittany St Clair, Debbie Lazenby, and Caroline Boothe of Roanoke Cardiology worked together to provide childcare for a patient so that she was able to get her testing completed without needing to reschedule! Thank you ladies!
On October 16th the Franklin Mammography Team organized an event aimed at raising awareness during Breast Cancer Awareness Month and highlighting the critical importance of screening mammograms. Their was a raffle with items donated from local vendors. We raised $220 and the proceeds from that raffle went towards helping victims of the recent hurricanes (Helene & Milton).

Kelly Dunagan and Tara Croy showed great Compassion to support those affected by Hurricane Helene in North Carolina. Kelly and Tara, without being asked, collected donations from employees around the hospital at CNRV. With cars loaded down, they personally delivered the donated items to West Yancey Volunteer Fire Department in Burnsville, NC. Thank you, Kelly and Tara, for taking your time to help assist in an area in desperate need and allowing us to help!
Two ED nurses (Tracy Ginnings & Judy Sadowski), ED doctor (Dr Bookout) and clinical administrator (Stef Braford) from FMH headed to NC to help clean up after the devastating flooding of hurricane Helene this week. And a big thank you to ED UD Stephanie Hodges for donating a box of toothbrushes and toothpaste to take with us. It was an amazing 2 days to help families in need after massive flooding washed away their homes. It was a humbling and grounding experience for all of us. All of us felt like we actually made a difference in people's lives over those 2 days.
