The ancillary council would like to recognize John Pence with the Robert Keeley Healing Arts Program for his impact on a patient! The nomination below is directly from the patient. “John came in and asked me if I would like to hear some music. He then played his guitar and sang for almost 2 hours. In between songs we had great conversation. His music ministry transformed my entire stay in the hospital.” Thank you John for taking time out of your day to make such a huge impact on our patients!
Billy on 11W took the time out of his busy day to talk one on one with a patient when they were having a bad day. He listened to the patient's worries and fears about their future and made them feel heard. The patient talked to Billy for almost an hour. After their conversation, you could see the light being brought back to this patients day. Billy, thanks for being a great role model.
Alexis Drury, RN at the Birthplace was nominated by three of her patients. She shows compassion and committee to every patient no matter the circumstances or time. Below is what the patients had to say about the care Alexis provides:
Paige Conkling, NP deserves a huge shout out. We will never know exactly just how busy she is through the night, answering pages, stopping bedside to check on patients, stopping by floors to talk to RN's.. the list could go on and on. Tonight was no different, i'm sure she was beyond busy. Even though that was the case she still stopped by my patients room to check on him at bedside. She made sure everything was good to go before she left and even helped us give him a boost. Something that may seem so small to others made a big impact on me.
I came in to do education one day last week and I knew my blood sugar was dropping but i felt i had time to get to the cafeteria. Well from the time I got on the garage elevator until I got off I was soaking wet, shaking and in serious trouble. The first name I came across in my phone that was close was Rebecca Bishop. As I was trying to get a regular soda I dialed her and asked if she could help me as I tried to get the drink opened. I was at the point where I was going to have to ask a visitor to get me help when I finally got the drink open.
Friday the 13th was a little short staffed in the Emergency Department.
I had a total care patient requiring a lot of work and I was drowning! I needed help cleaning up this patient, however, with this particular patient it wasn't going to be an easy task and impossible for one person.
A young man was a patient in the ER on the eve of their birthday. Anna Mele RN, got this young man a card, had the care team sign it and presented it to the patient while the care team sung to the patient. This was above and beyond compassionate care, and made this patient's stay in the ER just a little bit better. Outstanding Anna!
