Anissa Ollie and Sandi Meadows, HR, volunteered to deliver meals to people living near our workplace. It's only an hour a month but the meals impacted 12 families.
Sandi said "I felt we got the biggest reward today, seeing the smile on everyone's face moved me beyond words."

The Carilion Clinic Police Honor Guard has posted the colors during the past few years at the Jefferson College graduation ceremony. Officer Barksdale, Cpl. Hicks, Officer Jones and Officer Sanders (left to right) were honored to present the United States and Commonwealth flags at the last college graduation ceremony at the Berglund Center.
Eighteen employee poets from across Carilion submitted a total of 47 original haiku for Carilion's 2019 Employee Haiku Contest, an initiative of The Dr. Robert L. A. Keeley Healing Arts Program. Haiku were judged by professionals in the field of creative writing. Winners were announced and invited to read their work at the inaugural Poetry by Heart Event at Java the Hutt Cafe in Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Carilion Neurology has started an epilepsy support group!
The goal of the group is to provide a safe and comfortable environment in which caregivers and patients with epilepsy can discuss this condition. Our goal is to have education quarterly based on the needs and feedback of the group. They will receive education from different medical professionals in effort to help these individuals better understand this condition and improve effective coping.
Saturday April 27th, CNRV staff participated in the Highlander Half Marathon and 5k. Supporting our community, while enjoying outdoors.
Planning a new fund-raising event to support the patient care fund for Carilion Hospice in Franklin County is no easy undertaking, but three staff members (who jumped in to help the the fund-raising department) went above the call this year with Hotrods For Hospice.
I would like to recognize a group of people who truly embody the spirit of community and curiosity that makes us Carilion. Last week I had the honor of working with people who volunteered to help us film a new hand hygiene video. This video addresses our need for hand hygiene across multiple roles and care areas and these volunteers came from multiple areas and do a variety of jobs in our organization. This would not have been possible without their offering time, thoughts, enthusiasm, and in some cases, clothing.
