When a wound care patient from the southwestern edge of the Carilion footprint was staying in Roanoke and visiting a family member admitted to CRMC, the wound care staff worked diligently to provide that patient's wound care so they would not have any setbacks while out of town. Shoutout to the CRMC Wound Center and to Eddie Bell for all of your collaboration and for making this happen, not once but twice. Thank you!

Congratulation to Alania Utterback on being awarded the Ripple Award. She is an RN on Medical Surgical Unit at Carilion Giles. She was nominated five times via feedback in Cornerstone within a one-month time span. She had multiple great catches and teamwork reported. She goes above and beyond to take care of her patient and her teammates. Alania thank you for being role model for your peers and an advocate for your patients!

Shout out to CNRV inpatient pharmacy and outpatient infusion center! Kathy Tickle PharmD and Kristina Dillow RN went above and beyond to give attention and care for our patient and we appreciate them so much. Distance is no match when we are close at heart.

While working in the ED today, I met Heather Smith, RN, FNE. She was caring for the patient I was supporting. Heather maintained a presence and awareness of this patient's episode of care as it progressed, jumping in when needed. Ultimately, Heather filled a crucial role in getting some needed medication on board with the assistance of another ED leader. The care provided was professional, respectful, and very competent. I felt quite impressed at how Heather and the other leader jumped in to support this patient's care and the staff already caring for him.

 On June 10th, 2022, Carilion New River Valley Medical Center had its first ever organ donation after brain death case. Three lives were saved that day with transplant of the heart, liver and one kidney. We are so very appreciative of all who helped care for our donor patient, their family and in the coordination efforts of this first ever event for our hospital. Our last organ donation case (donation after circulatory death) was close to two decades ago!

There was an unexpected scope issue before an office case in the Giles MOB, with little time to spare. Everyone brainstormed together and jumped into action with the following result: a CNRV nurse and the MOB manager met half-way in Dublin and handed off a replacement scope while the OR got Dr. Cooper's next case done, so she could then flip back into the original case and be done close to on-time. Thanks to everyone's teamwork, and Dr.

Patient had been here for over 24 hours, both trash and linen were overflowing. Cee Berry and "Gab" came immediately to help me clean patients room and went above and beyond! You guys rock! Thank you so much for everything you guys do on a daily basis, our unit could NOT function without you guys!
