Above and Beyond Tech Support!

Submitted by sablackwell on

#Annette Blackwell - you rock! Thank you for your creative solutions and persistence getting AV functionality up and running for me twice in conference rooms without the necessary equipment. We 'MacGyvered' great solutions that allowed last minute remote attendees to join training classes still as planned. Thank you!

Breanna Price-Endocrinology - Supporting Dr. Saab

Submitted by slbrenner on

Wow !!!!  to  "Breanna Price" for her amazing ability to adapt to a brand new environment with a positive attitude (with little training on the technical devices to monitor blood sugars-with many complications). She remained calm, caring & very considerate to the needs of the patients who were struggling to understand the new pods & monitoring devices. She goes out of her way to find them coupons for their needed supplies.

1,500 pounds of recycled plastic brings 3 new benches to Carilion's campus!

Submitted by mcsotelo on

Three teams have been working very hard to keep soft plastics from being thrown away and sent to Virginia landfills! The Infusion Center and Gynecologic Oncology Clinic, CRMH OR Services 4th Floor Preop, and CRCH Outpatient Surgery each recycled 500 pounds of soft plastics through the Trex Soft Plastics Recycling program. Soft plastic waste consists of supply packaging, bubble wrap, plastic bed and linen covers, plastic bags, and more. Rather than simply throwing this away, these teams worked together to place it into a separate bin for recycling.

Inspired by regional "Local Flavor", and utilizing our new Smoker, Sam and Matt have developed a complete line of "Smokehouse Specials", featured in our system cafeterias and are now available for your next catered event.

EPIC-ally collaborative!

Jimmy DeHart has once again helped to troubleshoot an Epic challenge - this time, one that will help with efficient caseload management. I wanted to find a way to monitor visit dates, any open visit sets and new referrals. Jimmy called me back only minutes after an email asking for help, patiently walked me through some steps to personalize a report, and waited for me to run one to ensure it met my needs. Thank you again, Jimmy for helping us have the tools we need to work smarter!

Going Above and Beyond in Customer Service

Submitted by llsaavedra on

I want to give a shout out and THANK YOU to Melissa Wills, Product Lead, Digital Services in Marketing and Communications! I'm a new Carilion employee and assigned the task to update the Hub for the Institute for Leadership Effectiveness. The Hub isn't the most user friendly program and I had numerous questions about creating a high level resourceful site that would showcase the services ILE provides. Melissa was my go to person and exceeded my expectations in her amazing customer service! She went above and beyond in providing information to help me achieve my goals for our Hub.

Clinical Administration collaboration

Submitted by semccaffrey on

Thanks so much to our clinical administration team, especially Mary and David, for being great team players and support last night. You willingly took a patient to CT scan to ensure that our unit was adequately staffed and a new nurse was not left on the floor without any resources. I appreciate you being kind, patient, and willing to hear what my concerns were with losing an additional nurse to another floor. Thanks for being willing to compromise for the benefit of our patients!

Carilion CT has a perfect month for STROKE patients

Submitted by jrcrowley on

CT has been over target and goal for providing CT exams and interpretation for Stroke patients every month in 2022, and a perfect 88 out of 88 patients were completed in May!!!!  100% of patients made it thru triage, vitals, IV, CT scan, and interpretation within 30 mins.

Much thanks to CT staff, Radiologists, Pam Flinchum (stroke coordinator), ED staff, neurology, and all that continue to work to shave off minutes because time is brain.

Awesome work!
