Thank you to the over 100 Carilion team members from across our system who have worked with amazing collaboration and curiosity over the past year to build the new sepsis early warning system that goes live this Sunday. To say that this sepsis program was built  with an interdisciplinary approach would be an understatement!

Dear CGCH Rehab Department,

I wanted to thank you ALL for how you embraced and encouraged me this semester. Coming in as a student for a short time, I did not expect to be welcomed the way I was. I have felt like a peer and true member of this team even though I am not a technical employee nor here for very long. Many of you (across disciplines!) consistently ask me how the job hunt is going, how I am doing personally, how you can support me, etc. Each of you have gone above and beyond and I know that I will be a better person and clinician because of my time here! 

Kudos to the Westlake Velocity Care Team!!!. Yesterday during high volumes, a patient presented with cardiac symptoms, as a team everyone came together to help each other to get our patients back and taken care of. When our critical patient came in everyone pulled together to get them taken care of in an expedited manner. Special thanks to Tessa for getting hold of the cardiologist so quickly. The patient was quickly stabilized and flown to RMH where he was promptly treated and recovering. I am so thankful and grateful for everyone on our team at Westlake.

I would like to give a HUGE shout out to my ortho tech trainers! Heather, Jaime, Zhara, Amanda, Shirley, Carman and Kim!  I thank you all for your patience and grateful for your hard work these past two months while training me. Your encouragement and kind words have always helped me push through. Thank you all so much for everything you all have done to make me feel welcomed. 

Chaplain Jacque Green was a panelist at the 12th Annual Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Women’s Virtual Conference, which was sponsored by Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach, Florida. The theme for the 2022 Bethune Women’s Conference was “African American Women’s Health and Well-Being.” Jacque presented information on the emotional and spiritual challenges of death and loss and using spiritual practices for self-care. 

Congratulations to Terresa Odum, MBA-HM, PMP, CCS, CPC, Director CVI Revenue Operations, for publishing an article for the National Association of Healthcare Revenue Integrity. In the article, Terresa provides an overview of the how the review of authorizations has prevented denials and enhanced revenue capture for Carilion's Cardiovascular Institute. She and her team have worked with the physicians and leaders to improve processes. Great work, Terresa!

Collaboration in my opinion, is the best core value we have in all of our Carilion Clinics, and it's always an awesome opportunity to witness collaboration in action and we at CFMH had the privilege to witness a great teammate in action, his name is McKinley Foley. The EVS department at CFMH witnessed McKinley sifting through our landscaped rocks to remove old discarded green visitation stickers McKinley also asked leaving visitors for their stickers to help mitigate the possible litter in our parking lots .
