And it was a fun day indeed for Carilion Children’s Tanglewood Center and Carilion Children’s Pediatric Medicine Daleville employees who dressed up for Dr. Seuss Day. Great collaboration among staff. The pediatric patients enjoyed seeing the staff dressed up.
CFMH Imaging successfully scanned their first patient utilizing the new Siemens SOMOTOM go.All CT scanner. Our Imaging team is excited to continue excellent care and improve our technology and efficiency by utilizing new state of the art CT equipment in our facility. This scanner offers high image quality and low dose imaging. With improved patient care workflow, the patients can be tended to personally, providing increased satisfaction and an overall positive experience.
On Saturday, February 26th David Vance, Pharmacy Manager, represented CTCH at the annual Polar Plunge fundraising event hosted by Tazewell Today at Lincolnshire Park in Tazewell. The event raised money to support Clinch Valley Community Action Family Crisis Services. The funds raised help to support services and advocacy for survivors of abuse and intimate partner violence. David raised over $300 for the event and took the plunge to raise awareness and show support to our community partners.
On January 8, 2022, Carilion’s Sustainability Department hosted the first-ever Carilion Electronics Drive-Through Recycling Day. This event provided community members with an opportunity to recycle old electronics in a safe and environmentally friendly way.
Times have been and continue to be tough during the COVID pandemic and finding the time for a mental break has become challenging. Beverly Steffey the Manager of CGCH Med/Surg and ICU has set up a team coloring opportunity in the conference room for all staff to color and destress when needed. All CGCH employees are invited to collaborate with each other to complete this beautiful masterpiece.
Each year the RUC Physician Assistant (PA) Program honors an organization within the community that has worked closely with their students. The “Partnership Award” is recognition of that relationship and signifies that campus-community partnership. This year, Carilion’s Visiting Student Affairs (VSA) has been selected as the recipient. The decision was made by the Program, with input and suggestions from the students.
On Sunday, January 23,2022, the CTCH environmental services department was short staffed due to illness. Jenifer Duty, RN in the ED department cleaned and mopped the entire ER to help out the staff. Teamwork at it's best!!!
CNRV Birthplace received some new equipment on a very busy day. Teamwork from several depts got the new equipment delivered and ready for install. Thanks to Leonard Dishner and Glenn Hawkins from Materials Management - Roanoke for getting the equipment here and coordinating delivery to the unit. Mr. Patel went above and beyond today to help the Inpatient rehab liaisons work to get a rapid COVID test in process so that a patient could get over to CIPR . He followed up with us on multiple occasions and was so very kind and professional. We are very appreciative of him! THANK YOU Priti!!!
Looking around CRMH 6 South CSICU during the holidays, things were quite fun and festive! In an effort to bring cheer to each other and those around us, a tree was beautifully decorated with special personalized ornaments, and staff voted for the return of holiday window art. WOW!!! The detailed masterpieces were enjoyed throughout the holidays and all who visited were encouraged to vote for their favorites. Something seemingly simple meant so much to so many!
