To make a long story short, Gayle at this offices deserves a WOW for helping me out!  Not only is it after 3:30pm on a friday, it happens on a Holiday Friday.  Without getting into specifics, she had to chase down several people to get an OB ultrasound exam cancelled, as it had just been done the prior day - at a different office.  This endeavor took over 30 minutes of her time, as the actual ordering provider was not working today, nor was anyone else involved with the patient's care to this point.  She at anytime could have just gave up, and decided to walk away from t

Today, I’m extending eternal gratitude and appreciation for Sherri Denson, Imaging Department at Carilion Rockbridge Community Hospital. This week we had a patient who was not doing well and pending a transfer to a tertiary facility for a higher level of care. Our staff identified that the patient desired to speak with pastoral counsel prior to his transfer. After brainstorming and reaching out to our Carilion network, we were stumped at how to make this happen. Due to the tight knit community within our facility, we acted on hunch that Sherri may be able to help.

Having such a large group makes having a Christmas party challenging this year. Instead, we opted to hang our stockings on the wall (with care!) and play Santa for each other. The staff have had lots of fun thinking of fun little gifts to surprise each other with, and the spirit of the season has been with us all month long. We are also doing a cookie exchange! (all cookies individually wrapped for safety). Merry Christmas to all!

I wanted to thank all of the staff that assisted with the code in the cardiac cath lab on 12/2/21 for all of their help. The pharmacy staff that assisted went above and beyond and it was much appreciated. The staff that assisted with compressions was also phenomenal.  I did not get their names so hopefully they know who they are. 

Several weeks ago, Liz Myers (Imaging) reached out concerning an unexpected staffing shortage in my department that left one staff member to take care of the daily operations. She knew they wouldn't have time to reach out to me due to the timing and offered to take care of communicating with me. At that time she also offered to send help from her department and communicate back to me any further concerns. She was such a blessing at a time where options were short and concern high. My team and I are thankful that she recognized a need and met it. 

Dr. Laura Kornegay from the Virginia Department of Health made a guest appearance at the CRBH Board Meeting and recognized Holly Ostby (health educator) for leading our vaccine response team.  She also recognized the entire hospital.  Holly and Col.  Jay Williams (board chair) are featured in the picture.

Special thanks for the EAC Ortho Team in the New River Valley for collaborating on our new cookbook. They asked staff to consider and submit their favorite recipe then created this wonderful collection of favorites.

Great job being Curious of your co-workers and learning more about them, Collaborating to organize and put it all together and continued Commitment to your team!!  You really rock. 

On Nov. 7 the Franklin County Sheriffs Office contacted the Carilion Franklin Memorial Police in helping to locate a missing person. Christine Hubbard of Patient Access was instrumental in helping locate the missing person who was previously a patient of Carilion.
