The Roanoke City School Nurses won the award in their category.

During a recent power loss at our clinic, Brittany Ritchey (HAA at PHHS) went above and beyond to help ensure the vaccines remained safe. She quickly responded by notifying the correct parties and then completed a precise vaccine inventory list to be submitted. The adolescent clinic really appreciates your commitment to our patients and their safety. I also want to shout out the rest of the adolescent team that helped ensure the vaccines and patients were correctly cared for.

Brooke Wall is an RT at our Christiansburg Velocity Care site. I am the RT at our Blacksburg location. On 9/18 within an hour of opening we had 13 patients checked in, with only one Provider at our location. The nurse and myself were focusing on the patient's that were currently in line to be triaged and roomed. We noticed our 'call' check in patients were magically already triaged over the phone. Brooke, who was at our Christiansburg site working had checked our schedule.
My co-worker in home health, Casey Calfee, noticed some equipment in a patient’s home I forgot to pick up. The device was due to be shipped back to the lending company THAT day. Being an hour away at the time, it would have been difficult for me to pick it up and ship it out. But Casey volunteered not just to take it to the office for me but to ship it back to the company herself. Her generosity and care were awesome!
Today, I received a call from a patient. She is 104 years old and still living at home! She had a medical need that she perceived as immediate. She was very anxious, worried, and scared. I was not able to offer her a same day appointment at OBGYN Jefferson or Highland. I called 2 of our OBGYN sister offices. Erin Smith at CCR3 and Trisha Richardson at Salem worked with me to get this patient in today. I am very proud to be a part of this team and want to WOW them for their collaboration and helping make this patient's day.
Thanks to the collaborative efforts of Sharon Dishner and Tabitha Yaeger in Logistic Services and Leonard Dishner in Materials Management, the Marketing and Communications events team distributed over 7,000 Carilion Proud giveaway items to employees working at community hospitals across the system.

Can't forget to mention: thanks for helping with transports, morgue move-overs and being an amazing resource!!
Courtney Price, RN from the CGCH ED has worked with her Nurse Manager, Sabrina Bailes and Nurse colleagues to improve pain reassessment compliance scores. Courtney used a creative approach explaining the project need to the Nacho Average ED Nurses. ED scores have increased from 50% to 90% as a result! Courtney is now sharing her model with other facilities, so they can mirror the process.
Hats off to Courtney and the CGCH ED team for this great patient safety improvement!
