CGCH Ripple Award Winner - Alania Utterback
Congratulation to Alania Utterback on being awarded the Ripple Award. She is an RN on Medical Surgical Unit at Carilion Giles. She was nominated five times via feedback in Cornerstone within a one-month time span. She had multiple great catches and teamwork reported. The situation was discussed with the provider and it was determined that the patient needed a foley for acute urinary retention."

"Great Catch Alania!!! Alania noted a patient with Cirrhosis was only on PRN Lactulose, she remembered patient from last admit and remembered patient was on scheduled Lactulose. She notified Physician who corrected order- this likely kept patient from quickly transitioning into Hepatic Encephalopathy."
