Jared presented a suggestion to set up training scenarios and review periodically the safety devices we would actually have to use in emergencies. He noticed that our safety training was on generic devices and not what we actually use.
Shannon McLain you are doing an amazing job as clinical secretary on med/surg. They are so lucky to have you in that role. The ICU nurses would also like to thank you for going above and beyond for us. You are always so good about checking on us to see if we need help with anything. We appreciate you offering to help with measuring telemetries and for helping us keep stocked up on masks and other supplies. Not only are you great at your job, but you are also so thoughtful and always thinking about ways to help others.
Skin cancer prevention is so important when spending extended time outdoors. Wellness Services Director Whitney Long gave tips on sun safety awareness in English and Spanish to over 100 Robins & Morton construction workers on site at the Crystal Spring tower. Carilion Dermatology and Mohs Surgery provided handouts and access to daily sun protection for the duration of the build. The construction team was very welcoming and appreciative. Thanks to teams collaborating to make a difference in the health of our community.

I would like to recognize Adrian Wilson's team at the Lobby Pharmacy - and specifically Ken Lenviel, Elene Stratton, and Randi Walker. They went above and beyond today to make sure that one of our Hospice patients had a medication necessary for discharge. Without their efforts, she would not have been able to discharge home today. The patient, her family, and the entire hospital team are all very thankful for their hard work and dedication!
Infection Preventionists Melanie Morris, Matthew Skinner and Karen Mulkey participated in staff skills day at Heritage Hall in Tazewell. The team collaborated with leaders and staff at Heritage Hall to provide infection prevention education. Thank you for living our values and collaborating with our community partners.
A very special shout out to the CRMH ED team working on the CAPS Sepsis Phase II project! Thank you for investing many hours developing a Healthcare Failure Mode and Effect Analysis tool, which will be used to assess the entire sepsis screening and treatment process from patient registration in the ED to transfer to an inpatient unit. Bethany Weddle, Shannon Fitzgerald, and Amanda (Nikky) Mitchell helped to identify some great opportunities during triage to improve sepsis screening!
Laura Cuadrado, CTRS, Karina Espinal-Bodden, MS, MT-BC, and Eric Stachelski's, MS, MT-BC love for music has inspired them to make music together and perform songs for each of the adult floors at Roanoke Inpatient Mental Health. Adult patients can hear songs from Queen, Bon Jovi, Billie Holiday and more. With special guest musicians that may include RN Clay Trinkle and attending physican Dr. Greenage, patients enjoy live music in a relaxed but engaging environment.

Christina goes above and beyond every day to identify and tackle identified gaps in care for our Observation patients. She also is a champion with our geriatric services as well. Christina took initiative obtaining her certification in gerontology.
