A Summer Employee Recognition ceremony celebrating the 2026 Nursing and PCT Superlative award winners and Years of Service commitment was held for Carilion Giles Community Hospital employees on Wednesday July 1st. Congratulations to all of those who were recognized!!

A huge thank you to Dr. Thomas Donohue and Samantha Hartless, HAA, for representing Carilion Children's at the Balloons Over Rockbridge Festival on July 4th! Despite the extreme summer temperatures, they spent the day engaging with families, sharing information about our new Lexington Pediatric Office, and helping spread the word that Carilion is now here to serve the children and families of the Rockbridge community.

We are proud to announce that Lindsay Barry, PCT Lead for the Resource Pool, has been selected as our 2026 PCT Lead of the Year!

We only had 1 PCT for the shift on the floor and Sierra Pendergrass made sure that all of our patient's got a bath including the multiple new admits. She did this while still doing all her other tasks for the day. Sierra made sure her patients were taken care of and the patients were very appreciative of this! 

We are excited to share our Imaging Vision Award Winner! Matthew Johnston, who serves as the second shift CTL at CNRV. Matt consistently demonstrates exceptional skill in managing the diverse situations that arise on second shift, especially across multiple modalities. However, what really stands out is the dedication Matt has shown in rearranging his schedule to provide one-on-one training for off shift staff on the new CT scanner.

Thank you to Angela Witt, Crista Patterson, Claire Thielecke, Angela Steahly, Susan Carpenter, Wendy Meador, Delaney Basso, Essence Reynolds, and Kathy Crum for volunteering your time and expertise to support a CPR training for the Miss Virginia and Miss Teen Virginia pageant contestants.

Educators from the Life Support, Epic, and Clinical Education teams came together to provide hands-on CPR training, giving contestants the opportunity to learn lifesaving skills, practice with expert guidance, and demonstrate their knowledge using our RQI mobile carts.
