Melissa Spoke and the SafeWatch Team Listened!

Submitted by eralford on

Melissa Wray, BSN, RN, CCRN at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital provided feedback to the SafeWatch team for improvements. She suggested we add Great Catch to the SafeWatch reporting system (See below). She also wanted to align the end of shift report with this new verbiage. We are happy to report that both of these changes were implemented last week. This helps standardize our platforms and align  reporting with our Great Catch campaign.

Just a shout out to Sonya Abdelhadi for her commitment to HR’s Education & Organization Development’s group of orientees!  Sonya schedules and presents during biweekly orientation meetings, she has made herself available for questions and concerns, and she routinely touches base to make sure we are aware of pipeline events that may impact us.  She does all this while maintaining her separately assigned workload and going to school!  Her commitment is unwavering!  We all appreciate the wonderful job she is doing and the service she is providing!

Elizabeth is an outstanding RN and has responded our EMU patients' needs with exceptional skill. In addition to her everyday response to our patient's seizures/ seizure-like events, today she enabled one of our patients to get the exercise/stimulation they needed to trigger an event. Elizabeth promptly provided an exercise device for the patient that suited their inability to leave the room. She exhibits interest in the unique needs of our EMU patients and is a remarkable asset to our workflow!

Many thanks to Ronnie Crisco who came in on his day off to help us with a pipe that was leaking inside a wall.  We had a small lake forming in the bathroom, Ronnie was able to help the on call maintenance person with removing the drywall and patching a leak in our plumbing to keep it from getting out of hand.  It was a great example of his commitment to our department and his overall helpful and caring attitude!  Thanks Ronnie!!
