A shout out to Brenda Justice ( Dietary) from the Birthplace staff at Carilion New River Medical Center! Always friendly, polite and prompt to serve our patients. Brenda always greets staff and families with a smile and positive attitude. She makes sure patients receive trays quickly, makes sure they have all they requested, and are able to reach the tray to eat. Brenda goes above and beyond her role and checks in with patients before her shift ends for any additional needs.

Thank you Melissa Hobbins!

On Thursday 10/31 I was struggling to find a fix for an Epic order entry problem.  We had a research patient scheduled for surgery on 11/1 at 7AM.  Melissa Hobbins RPh took the time to help me (after hours) and was able to create a work around until the problem was fixed.  This enabled us to continue with our research study patient and for the study drug to be ordered.   Thank you Melissa!

CFMH Pre-surgical Testing Great Catches

Submitted by cdkiser on

Melissa is our Pre-Surgical Testing nurse for the OR at CFMH and ensures all of our patients have the required lab work and tests completed for there specific surgery. Her job is vital because she is our first line of contact with our surgical patients. She notifies the surgeon, anesthesia, and staff of any potential issues. Two prime examples were this past Friday when she had not one, but TWO great catches. The first patient was still taking her Plavix and she notified the surgeon so that her surgery could be rescheduled safely.

Has we are trying to get things straightened out Pam Holt, NP came to the rescue. Pam helped us get beds set up, got consents signed and stayed and helped with whatever we needed.
