We had a full week of celebrations for PeriAnesthesia Nurse Awareness Week February 3-9, 2020. Our unit representatives were Lee Ann Tingler RN and Kristy Waldron RN.  We were blessed with a wonderful breakfast to share in our nursing history stories, and a poster was made with a picture of each nurse and number of years in nursing. Our department total of nursing experience was 1060 years.

CFMH Wear Red Day event was held on February 7, 2020.  The day was filled with excitement and celebration. There were so many of us dressed in red showing support and awareness for heart health.  Our cardiac rehab department held an open house with healthy snacks and several tables set up to provide education and literature showing ways to prevent cardiac disease and stroke. Carilion Wellness brought the InBody so staff could learn ways to improve their health and receive Virgin Pulse points.

Wear Red Day a great success!

CMC's Wear Red Day event on February 7th was a great success!  Sponsored by the Cardiovascular Institute, the event had over 300 attendees who received education on wellness and prevention topics such as women and heart disease, heart-healthy nutrition, stroke prevention, diabetes management and more.  Heartfelt thanks go out from our CVI leaders to Melanie Johnson and the HeartNet team, CVI Department/Administrative Secretaries, and the many who contributed their time and knowledge to provide education to our attendees!

Jacob comes through again!

This isn't the first time that I've had the pleasure of working with Jacob Mack with Environmental Services. He always seems to be in the right place at the right time and always willing to help. Today we were involved in a very volatile and stressful situation involving multiple departments. We all had to work together to accomplish our goals of safety for all. Jacob heard me say that we needed to get EVS to quickly clean a room to put a patient in. I turned around and saw that it was Jacob that heard me. He is committed to his job and the work that he does.

Ripples at CGCH

Submitted by mhwalkup on

The Ripple Effect was started in 2019 by the CGCH Patient Experience Committee. Boxes in each department throughout the hospital are available with slips of paper for people to share when they see their co-workers making a difference in our community. Each month the Patient Experience Team members bring these boxes to their monthly meeting to be shared as examples of the little ways people are making a BIG difference here at CGCH. These are the Ripples from the January Patient Experience Meeting.
