I wanted to give a shout out to TIM DEAN Psych tech for the awesome team work on the west wing of ST. Albans this past weekend. He cleaned the west dining room and patient area even know it was assigned to me to do. He also did all the Patients clothes on the west wing without asking him. The biggest thing he did was keeping up with the safety checks as other staff and myself was busy with another patient. He been a great help and just wanted to say THANK YOU!!

Danielle Liddle, a nurse and educator with Carilion lead a nursing team at CNRV's Birthplace to help reduce first birth c-section rates. Through several nurse-driven interventions, we realized a significant reduction in first birth c-sections! Danielle's project was chosen to present at the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses' national conference and will be published in JOGNN. We're so grateful for the hard work from Danielle and the rest of the nursing team at CNRV's Birthplace! Together, we continue to improve maternal outcomes for our community!

A patient came to ED by EMS for a possible overdose. McKenzie was preparing to perform an EKG and pulled down his socks to place the leads, upon doing so she found a small bag containing brown powdered substance. She called Carilion Police to have this confiscated.  McKenzie’s observation skills allowed her to find this substance and have it removed from the ED.

We would like to give a big shout out to Terri Brewster, RT(R)(M), who is part of the Carilion Tazewell Community Hospital Imaging team.  On any given day, if you are fast enough, you can catch Terri cleaning up an ED room, sweeping floors, changing beds, starting IVs, cleaning up a “Code Brown”, grabbing a warm blanket for a patient AND doing her core responsibilities as a Radiologic Technologist performing CT’s, mammograms and X-rays.  Her sense of teamwork, pride in her work and integrity are exemplary!  Oh, and did I mention that she has been known to bu

Carilion Clinic Hospice of the New River Valley has achieved level 5 distinction in the We Honor Veterans program again this year. Our location was the FIRST hospice to achieve this level in the state of Virginia and we have maintained that level since it became a level and requirement. I can not verbalize how much commitment, service, hard work, and dedication goes into this work every 12 months. Treasa Rigney leads this effort with passion and without her focus, we may lose some ground. The work of others, including our staff and wonderful volunteers does not go unnoticed either.
