Carilion Rockbridge Community Hospital recently honored its Quarter Century Society.  CRBH has 29 employees with 25 or more years of service (46 years for our most tenured team member) for a combined 915 years. CRBH is sincerely thankful for the commitment that all of these employees have had to our hospital and to our community. These individuals have been and will continue to be vital to the success of our hospital.  Not all of the members are pictured.  Thank you to the entire group!

These days as a manager, when you hear "there is a patient wanting to speak with you", your mind automatically goes to "oh great, what now". Well today I got the pleasant surprise of a patient wanting to speak with me to sing our praises!  Oh, how nice to hear and boy did it make my day! So, with the patients' permission, I would like to pass along such great praises to Jennifer Tarter, NP and her nurse Dorothy Farris, LPN for taking such great care of Mrs. Cooke and her family.

Today we recognize recruiters across the healthcare industry for the vital role they play in providing medical professionals to our communities. As proclaimed by Congress in 1991, the first Tuesday in June each year is National Healthcare Recruiter Recognition Day!

A special thank you to Dr David Woodfield who took time out of his busy day to contact a DME company regarding a cpap that needed to be expedited. He didn't have to do that, but he did. Also to Dr. Carl Musser and Dr. Michael Sternberg for explaining Mobitz type 1 and Mobtiz type 2 in a way that we all understood. We appreciate your patience in explaining the situation and your dedication to patient care and education. 

On April 15, 2023, Carilion’s Sustainability department held an Electronics Recycling Day. Over 480 cars attended this drive through event and recycled 31,875 pounds of electronics. The funds generated from this event went towards the Carilion Clinic’s Foundation fundraiser for the new cancer center and it raised $3,305! 

On May 17th, the Nursing Center of Excellence presented the Outstanding Preceptor Award to Peyton Smith, RN from 10MPCU. Leaders from the Nursing Center of Excellence presented her with the award alongside her team members and nursing leaders. Her nomination read, “Peyton is a professional, caring, empathetic RN. She goes above and beyond for every patient and peer. If patient does not know the answer she will find out for you. Petyon follows through with any and all questions, requests, and tasks in a timely, concise matter.

Thank you to Chase for showing Commitment and Compassion and helping nursing staff getting a patient back into bed and cleaned up after an assisted fall! Keeping showing these values and you will continue to be a good member of the Carilion Community and the Clinical Transport family.

She went way above and beyond to take care of me and I thank her so much".
