31,875 pounds of electronic waste recycled! Thank you volunteers!

Our second annual Electronics Recycling Day was a success! Approximately 480 cars attended the drive-through event and recycled a total of 31,875 pounds of electronics. Items ranged from flat screen monitors, computer towers, laptops, cell phones, and broken ellipticals!  

Thank you to the amazing 22 Carilion employees who volunteered their time to help with this event! This event would not be possible without them and their hard work unloading items from the cars and directing traffic to ensure a streamlined and safe experience for community participants.  

When e-waste is not properly disposed of, it can lead to air pollution, water contamination, and soil pollution. These environmental impacts can impact human health, causing impacts on immune system functioning, risk of cancer, negative birth outcomes, and impaired neurodevelopment. Thank you to anyone who dropped off electronics to have them properly (and securely) recycled!
