Stay Vigilant—Protect Yourself and Prevent the Spread of Illness

Winter is here and so are many illnesses that are infecting our communities. The flu, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and COVID-19, all highly infectious respiratory diseases, are always strong contenders during the winter season. This year, the Norovirus, a highly contagious virus that causes acute gastroenteritis, has also been making its debut. According to the Virginia Department of Health (VDH), Norovirus is currently widespread in Virginia.

A winter weather advisory has been issued for our region from midnight on Thursday, Dec. 4 through the evening hours on Friday, Dec. 5.  Be sure to review these important Carilion severe weather procedures.

1. Know the Inclement Weather Policy

Ask your manager if your job is considered an emergency personnel position and if you are required to come to work in inclement weather. If so, please be careful and have a plan in place so you can make it to and from work safely.

Earn Up to $20,000 for Referring a Physician to Carilion

We are now offering Referral Rewards for approved open physician positions!    

The program provides a $20,000 referral bonus to employees—including physicians—who refer a physician who is hired for one of the approved positions. The payment is subject to taxes and withholdings and is paid in two installments.
