Know Where to Find Mental Health Resources When You Need Them

As many of you are aware, workplace violence events in the healthcare setting continue to make national headlines in recent months. Unfortunately, no healthcare team is fully immune. We can, however, continue to talk about industry challenges and work to build on our own safety efforts.

In case you missed it, here are the latest developments in that work, which include piloting new weapons detection tools. Carilion Police and Security also shared personal safety tips to practice every day.

Mental health support is another critical element as we work to foster a workplace where our teams feel safe.

On Wednesday, Feb. 26, the CRMH community was impacted by an event in which a patient took their own life. Carilion’s CONNECT urgent mental health care is available 24/7 for any employee who needs support. To access that focused support, call 540-981-8181.

Upcoming Support Activities at CRMH:

  • Friday, Feb. 28:
    • 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.: EAP and Behavioral Health support in 1 South Boardroom. (Break from 1:30-2:15 p.m. for lunch.)
    • Noon – 4 p.m.: Chaplaincy Code Lavendar support in 1 West Conference Room B
    • 12:15 p.m.: Chaplaincy hosts a weekly Feel Good Friday Walk on the greenway (meet in the main hall of the lobby)
    • 2 – 4 p.m.: Pet Pals in 1 West Conference Room B
  • Monday, March 3:
    • 7:30 – 9:30 a.m. and 2 – 4 p.m.: Wellness offering acupressure in the 1 South Boardroom
