TRUST Team

The TRUST Team provides compassionate, coordinated support for health care team members experiencing the second victim phenomenon related to an adverse patient event or security event. 

Every health care worker can experience the second victim phenomenon. It is estimated that almost half of all health care providers will experience the second victim phenomenon at least once in their careers.

The TRUST Team's support for second victims includes:

• Outreach by qualified mental health professionals.
• Peer support from volunteer providers who have had personal experiences as second victims and who have received training.
• Referrals to our Employee Assistance Program for second victims who require greater support. This level of service is also completely confidential and abides by HIPAA.
