Many of you are tracking the recent Executive Orders (EOs) that may have an impact on the way we deliver healthcare. Our legal team has also been monitoring the EOs and related developments closely, including seeking guidance from appropriate outside national counsel as needed.
To help our younger generation experience the healthcare arena—and to provide immeasurable support to our organization—we are offering clinical and non-clinical paid internships to high school and college students.

Our Culinary Center is leading the way in sustainability with its new composting program, launched in September 2024 in partnership with a new local composting company. In just the first eight weeks, the initiative diverted 9,134 pounds of food waste from landfills—preventing approximately 4.63 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (MTCO2e) from entering the atmosphere.
You may have noticed that benefit deductions did not come out of your Jan. 31 paycheck. This does not mean that you don’t have benefits.
As a reminder, benefit premiums for 2025 are calculated to be deducted out of 24 pay periods.

We are introducing a new communication tool for inpatient and Emergency Department staff within our hospital facilities. Designated staff in these departments will receive iPhones to help increase communication efficiency. This initiative aims to provide a secure, integrated system that enhances workflow and patient care.

After a comprehensive national search, we are excited to share that we have hired Tristi Metcalf, MD, to chair the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology for Carilion Clinic and the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. She will join us in April.
