As our frontline teams can attest, this has been a busy respiratory virus season. This year, for instance, we’ve seen the highest level of influenza cases since 2022. Within our region, numbers have been particularly high in Rockbridge and Franklin County, though influenza is present throughout the area and impacting all populations and age groups.
As healthcare workers, we often see people at their most vulnerable and stressed, which can lead to high-intensity interactions and sometimes even violence. In fact, compared to industries nationwide, healthcare workers are five times more likely to face workplace violence.
Help make a difference by volunteering at our upcoming electronics recycling event on Saturday, March 8 from 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. We’re partnering with River Acceptance to safely recycle old electronics, with all proceeds benefiting the Carilion Clinic Foundation’s Taubman Cancer Center Fund. Volunteers can sign up for 2-hour shifts.
