How to Spot Spoof Calls- Keeping You and Your Patients Safe

What is spoofing?  
Spoofing is a technique used by phone scammers to illegally impersonate an individual or company in an attempt to steal someone's personal information. Common spoofing tactics include using local area codes, false caller ID and familiar numbers.  
Recently, we have seen an uptick in reports of scammers spoofing Carilion numbers. These calls are virtually untraceable, so it is important to stay informed and educate patients on how to spot and respond to a scam call.  

Belleview Avenue Next to CRMH West Pavilion Closes Tuesday, June 24

Beginning the afternoon of Tuesday, June 24, the portion of Belleview Avenue next to the CRMH West Pavilion is closing.

This closure will cause a traffic pattern shift.

What You Need to Know

  • The closure will remain in place indefinitely as we finalize construction plans for the façade.  

  • Our Terrace View Garage, North Entrance and loading dock will only be accessible via Walnut Avenue. The loading dock will only be open to vendors and designated employees. 

We're Updating the Code Status Language in Epic

We're making updates to the code status language in Epic to reduce confusion and make it clear when the patient's advance care planning wishes need to be documented.

In Epic, code status refers to a patient's wishes regarding resuscitation during a medical emergency, particularly cardiac or respiratory arrest. It's a set of instructions for the medical team indicating what measures to take, or not take, to try and revive a patient.

Security Update Coming to All Carilion-Provided Computers Starting June 19

All Carilion-provided desktop and laptop computers will be updated Thursday, June 19 through Sunday, June 22. The update will be followed by a reboot of the device. The schedule for updates is:
