On Tuesday, Oct. 20, we broke ground on a 40,000-square-foot expansion of our existing facility in Daleville. The project will bring 24/7 emergency services, additional specialty care, and expanded primary care closer to home for patients and families in the growing community.

Chris Cullom joined Carilion in August as executive vice president and chief operating officer. Prior to joining Carilion, Chris served as chief operating officer for Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals in Philadelphia, part of Jefferson Health, where he helped lead operational strategy for the system’s flagship hospitals and major growth initiatives.

We recently welcomed Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger to Rockbridge for a firsthand look at the important role rural hospitals like CRBH play in providing quality care close to home. During her visit, Gov. Spanberger toured the hospital, met with our employees and leaders, and learned more about the opportunities and challenges of delivering healthcare in rural communities.

Our annual benefits open enrollment period is Tuesday, Nov. 3 through Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2026. During this time, you will be able to enroll in and update your benefits for 2027 through Workday.

In 2017, we installed a 4,000-panel solar array at CNRV to help generate electricity. The property is actively maintained by a local sheep farmer and his herd, which helps increase the economic output of the land while eliminating the use of gasoline and fossil fuels to mow the area. This makes the sustainability effort even “greener” by reducing the use of fossil fuels in landscaping equipment.

Beginning Thursday, Oct. 15, we’re adding another convenient way for patients to receive information about their Carilion accounts.

Patients who opt in to text messages can receive billing-related notifications, including balance updates, billing letters, notices when an estimate is ready, financial assistance updates, payment confirmations, payment reminders, and statements.
