At Carilion Clinic, patients and families often want to express gratitude to those who made a difference in their care. Our new Grateful Patient Program provides them with a meaningful way to do just that.

The program will launch this November with select patient families receiving a series of emails inviting them to share their stories, recognize members of their care team and learn about ways to support Carilion.

Our care teams meet patients during some of their most difficult moments, making a lasting impact on their life. Too often, however, we never have the chance to hear from patients after treatment.

This program will change that, offering an easy way for patients to celebrate our teams, highlighting the difference you make every day, and inspiring philanthropic gifts to advance that same exceptional care we provide across our communities.

The Grateful Patient Program is designed to complement, not replace, existing recognition programs like the DAISY Award, providing another meaningful way for patients and families to celebrate their care teams.

Stories will also help us better understand what matters most to those we serve and identify opportunities to engage with patients and our community.

We will share more as the program expands in the coming months, providing information to help you recognize and respond to expressions of gratitude, so you feel confident and prepared when patients and families want to recognize their care or give back.

Once the program launches, you'll be able to explore our Grateful Patient Program site and read stories about the exceptional care team members who make a difference for our patients and families every day. We look forward to sharing a link once the page is live.

In the meantime, if you have questions, please contact Ralph Alee, Vice President Business Development, Foundation Operations, at rwalee@carilionclinic.org.
