Whether you’ve already shared a thank-you or are getting ready to send your first, everyone can help keep the appreciation going. From direct patient care to the work that supports our teams behind the scenes, there are everyday opportunities to put a colleague in the Limelight.

Reach Them Right Away

Wondering if someone will see your recognition in the feed? Don’t worry, the person or team you’re recognizing immediately receives an email notification. They do not need to be tagged to know they are recognized. Just select the colleague or team you want to recognize, describe what they did and why it mattered, and submit your message.

And remember, recognition doesn’t need points to be meaningful. Use In the Limelight for everyday appreciation. Leaders can use Light the Way to include points with recognition for notable contributions. A specific, sincere thank-you is always a good place to start.

Recognize Quiet Wins and Big Moments

You don’t have to wait for a major milestone. Think about the moments that made a difference in your day. Here are a few recognition message examples for inspiration: 

• In direct patient care: “Thank you for taking extra time to explain the next steps to a patient and family. You helped make their experience clearer and more reassuring.”
• During a busy shift: “Thank you for stepping in to support our team when things got busy. Your teamwork helped us stay focused on caring for our patients.”
• In a non-patient-care setting: “Thank you for simplifying our tracking process. Your idea reduced duplicate work and gave the team more time to focus on other priorities.”
• Across departments: “Thank you for working through that technology issue with us and keeping us updated. Your follow-through helped our team get back on track.”
• When someone helps others grow: “Thank you for walking me through a new process and making time for my questions. Your support helped me get comfortable with the work.”

The best messages name the action and explain its impact. Look beyond your immediate team, too—meaningful contributions happen across departments, locations and shifts. When recognizing work involving patients, keep patient names and identifying details out of your message.

• Inside Carilion: Select the Limelight graphic block on the homepage or find Limelight under Tools on the right side of the page.
• Teams or Outlook: Access Limelight through the Awardco app.
• On the go: Use the Awardco mobile app, available on Carilion-issued devices or through your device’s app store.

Single sign-on connects you with your Carilion credentials. Once you’re in, explore the recognition feed, think about who made a difference in your day, and give them a moment in the Limelight!
